Set to be fully operational in 2026, Kelvin will process up to 395,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually, generating up to 44MW of electricity—enough to power 95,000 UK homes while reducing landfill reliance and supporting a circular economy.

As we prepare for operations, we're looking for Mechanical Technician to join our growing team and help shape the future of this cutting-edge site.

Why Join Us at Kelvin?

  • Brand-New Facility – Be part of the pioneering team establishing Kelvin’s operational excellence from day one.
  • Sustainable Energy – Help generate energy while diverting waste from landfill.
  • Advanced Technology – Work with modern EfW systems, including high-efficiency combustion, flue gas treatment, and energy recovery processes.
  • Community Impact – Play a role in boosting local energy resilience and supporting West Bromwich’s low-carbon ambitions.

What the Role Involves:

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing the mechanical systems and equipment across the EfW plant, ensuring the facility operates at maximum efficiency.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining, repairing, and overhauling mechanical systems and equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and other plant machinery.
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure minimal plant downtime and continuous performance.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical faults, ensuring swift resolutions to prevent disruption.
  • Assisting with plant upgrades and installation of new mechanical systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations in every task you undertake.
  • Collaborating with other teams to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and equipment performance.

Our Values

  • One Team – We collaborate and support each other to succeed.
  • Pride Matters – We take pride in what we do and deliver excellence.
  • Safety on Purpose – Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Make a Positive Impact – We drive meaningful change for our environment and communities.
  • Take Ownership – We lead with accountability and integrity.

Our Benefits – Investing in You

At Enfinium, our people are our priority, and we offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your well-being and development:

  • Vitality Private Medical Care
  • Private Dental Care
  • Life Assurance
  • Company Pension – with a 6% employer contribution
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Uniform Provided
  • Ongoing Learning & Development – access to role-based qualifications and e-learning

What We Are Looking For:

  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician in a heavy industrial or energy-from-waste environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and compressors.
  • A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental best practices.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and development.
