Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) to lead day-to-day activities for the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals project. The role involves deputising for the Technical Services Manager, coordinating planned maintenance via Maximo, and supervising staff and subcontractors.

We value strong leadership, engineering knowledge, and a proactive approach to FM services within a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate.
• A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems.
• Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, and liaise effectively with staff in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates/building issues in construction, maintenance and FM services.

Responsibilities

• Directly accountable for day-to-day matters to the Technical Services Manager.
• Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absence from site as directed by Senior Management Team.
• Plan and schedule all planned preventive maintenance activities with Planning Coordinator using the Maximo system.
• Assist in negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers for cost-effective service per contract SLA.
• Ensure staff and subcontractors respond and rectify within targets and ensure timely repairs.
• Review quality of work by staff and contractors.
• Participate in Estates Team to achieve AP status in relevant disciplines (e.g., Pressure Systems, Ventilation, Medical Gas).
• Be on the on-call rota as required and participate in Winter Maintenance when needed.
