Gold Group in Smethwick is seeking an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical bias) to oversee day‑to‑day operations and assist the Technical Services Manager at a large facilities management site.

You will coordinate planned maintenance, liaise with subcontractors, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. A City and Guild or equivalent qualification is required, together with strong people and IT skills, including Maximo.

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate.
• Must be able to manage people and liaise effectively in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Experience with estates, building issues and FM services.

Responsabilidades

• Directly accountable for day-to-day matters to the Technical Services Manager.
• Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absence from site.
• Plan and schedule all planned preventative maintenance using Maximo with respect to regulations and guidance.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to provide cost‑effective services.
• Ensure staff and subcontractors meet response and rectification times and that work is completed diligently.

What the role entails:

• Directly accountable for day-to-day matters to the Technical Services Manager
• Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absence from site as directed by Senior Management Team
• Plan and schedule all planned preventative maintenance activities in conjunction with the Planning Coordinator for buildings, plant and equipment using the Maximo system, with consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP's and Guidance (HTM's)
• Assist the Technical Services Manager to undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to the contract SLA's
• Ensuring that all staff and subcontractors' response and rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay
• Review the quality of work undertaken by both directly employed staff and contractors
• Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person (AP) status in a number of disciplines as required and directed by Senior Management Team which will include the following key disciplines as appropriate along with any other disciplines deemed necessary: Pressure Systems, Ventilation, Medical Gas
• Required to participating in the 'on call' rota as and when required, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained as directed by Senior Management. On call cover may also include participation in Winter Maintenance on-call.

What experience you need to be the successful Assistant Technical Services Manager:

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
• High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate
• A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems
• Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, and be able to liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates and building issues in the provision of construction, maintenance and FM services
• Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
• Driving Licence
