Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support permanent water infrastructure projects. You will provide mechanical engineering expertise across the full lifecycle—from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover.

In this role, you will deliver engineering activities, review technical documentation, coordinate installations and liaise with project managers, subcontractors and site teams to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical project engineering within water, utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment installation and commissioning.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of project delivery processes, health and safety requirements and quality standards.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Effective planning, organisation and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering activities across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Review designs, specifications and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical installations, commissioning activities and project handovers.
• Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Monitor progress, quality and technical performance throughout project delivery.
• Support preparation of project programmes, risk assessments and technical reports.
• Ensure all works comply with health, safety, environmental and industry standards.
• Provide technical solutions to engineering challenges and support continuous improvement.
