Job summary

VolkerStevin is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support major projects in the Anglian Water region. You will deliver mechanical packages from design through to handover, coordinating with the Mechanical Lead to ensure safety, cost control and on-time delivery.

The role requires a technical background in mechanical engineering, experience with subcontractors, and strong planning and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (BEng, HNC, HND or equivalent).
• Experience delivering electrical works within utilities or water industry is highly desirable.
• Experience in subcontractor and package management.
• Mechanical equipment installation and inspection experience.
• Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.
• CSCS card holder.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical procurement packages from specification through to installation, commissioning and handover.
• Produce scopes of work and manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Oversee equipment selection, including pumps, valves, penstocks, lifting equipment and associated mechanical systems.
• Monitor package costs, programme performance and project risks, ensuring targets are achieved.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces across the project team.
• Carry out site surveys, inspections, FATs, SATs and witness testing to ensure quality and compliance.
• Review and approve subcontractor designs, technical submissions and installation documentation.
• Manage defects, maintenance activities and project close-out during the defects liability period.
• Support planning, reporting and change management activities.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality compliance throughout project delivery.
• Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities to ensure successful project completion.
