Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support major projects in the Anglian Water region. You will deliver electrical packages, manage procurement through installation, testing and handover, and ensure compliance with client specs and industry standards.

Key responsibilities include coordinating MEICA packages, selecting electrical subcontractors, driving value engineering, and supervising on-site activities.

Qualifications

• Electrical package management experience.
• Site supervision experience in infrastructure/utilities.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and subcontract management.
• Knowledge of WIMES and water industry specs.
• Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Manage delivery of electrical and MEICA packages from procurement through installation and handover.
• Coordinate MEC/MEICA with civil and mechanical works for project success.
• Lead selection, procurement and management of electrical subcontractors.
• Review designs, URS/FDS and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Drive value engineering, cost control and standardisation of electrical solutions.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, defect management and repair throughout the lifecycle.
• Support planning, programme management and progress reporting.
• Conduct and witness FATs, SATs and commissioning activities as required.
• Review RAMS and ITPs for subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing team supporting the delivery of major projects in the Anglian Water region.

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery and technical governance of electrical packages, managing MEICA procurement packages through to delivery, installation, commissioning and handover. You will ensure project requirements are achieved while maintaining compliance with client specifications, industry standards and all relevant regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of electrical and MEICA packages from procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical and civil activities to ensure successful project delivery.
• Lead the selection, procurement and management of electrical subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review electrical designs, specifications, URS/FDS documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Drive value engineering, cost control and standardisation of electrical solutions.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, defect management and repair activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support planning, programme management and progress reporting.
• Conduct and witness FATs, SATs and commissioning activities where required.
• Review subcontractor RAMS and ITPs, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Ensure compliance with client procedures, industry standards and ATEX requirements.
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Support commissioning activities, client training and project handover.

About you

We're looking for someone with strong technical expertise and experience delivering electrical works within an infrastructure, utilities or water industry environment.

You'll ideally have:

• BEng, HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience in electrical package management and site supervision.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and subcontract management.
• Experience working to WIMES and water industry specifications.
• Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing and commissioning.
• Excellent communication and planning skills.
• CSCS card holder.
• SMSTS (Desirable)
• Knowledge of ATEX, DSEAR and instrumentation systems. (Desirable)
