Job summary

Adapt Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead mechanical installation projects in the UK Water & Wastewater sector. Role covers design coordination, installation, commissioning and handover on major infrastructure projects.

You will own projects from award to completion, coordinate procurement, review drawings, liaise with clients and subcontractors, and deliver RAMS and programmes while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
• UK Water/Wastewater project experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• CDM health and safety knowledge and strong stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical projects from award through to completion.
• Coordinate procurement of mechanical equipment and materials.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

• Attend client/site meetings and provide technical support.

Working on behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a specialist engineering contractor delivering mechanical installation projects across the UK Water & Wastewater sector. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from design coordination through to installation, commissioning and handover, working on major UK infrastructure projects.

Key Duties

• Managing mechanical projects from award through to completion.


• Coordinating the procurement of mechanical equipment and materials.


• Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.


• Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.


• Producing RAMS, project programmes and project documentation.


• Coordinating site activities to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.


• Monitoring project costs, variations and commercial performance.


• Attending client and site meetings, providing technical support where required.


• Supporting commissioning, testing and final project handover.


• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and water industry standards.


• Maintaining accurate project records and progress reports.

What we are looking for in the successful candidate:

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.


• Previous experience delivering mechanical projects within the UK Water or Wastewater industry.


• Knowledge of mechanical pipework, pumping systems and process equipment.


• Strong understanding of CDM regulations and Health & Safety requirements.


• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.


• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.


• Commercially aware with excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office.


• Full UK Driving Licence.


• SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid, NEC contract knowledge or AutoCAD experience would be advantageous.
