Job summary

Hudson Shribman is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician/Engineer to provide hands-on, first-line maintenance across a varied manufacturing facility in Greater London. The role covers reactive breakdowns, planned maintenance, and general mechanical and facilities support.

You will diagnose faults, service CNC and conventional machinery, and manage hydraulic/pneumatic systems while liaising with manufacturers for expert help when needed. A practical, hands-on approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience maintaining manufacturing or industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience with bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors and conveyors.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line mechanical maintenance and breakdown support.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on manufacturing machinery and equipment.
• Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Maintain CNC machinery, conventional machinery, production equipment and associated plant.
• Fault-find and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain pumps, bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors and other mechanical equipment.
• Read mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
• Carry out machinery repairs, component replacement and basic modifications.
• Support general building and facilities maintenance.
• Use the CMMS system to record maintenance activity.
• Identify complex machinery faults and liaise with equipment manufacturers and specialist contractors where additional technical support is required.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.

An established specialist manufacturing company is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to provide hands‑on, first‑line maintenance support across its manufacturing facility.

What We’re Looking For

You will be a suitably qualified Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Engineer with practical maintenance experience gained within manufacturing, engineering or production.

You should have:

• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair skills.
• Experience maintaining manufacturing or industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience with bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors and conveyors.
• A practical, hands‑on approach to breakdowns and maintenance.
• The ability to recognise when specialist manufacturer support is required.
• Basic electrical maintenance knowledge would be advantageous.

This would suit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Engineer or Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a varied, hands‑on manufacturing maintenance role.
