Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to ensure reliable operation of mechanical equipment at our Randburg-area sites. This hands-on role requires performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing faults, reading schematics, and ensuring compliance with HSE standards.

The ideal candidate holds a trade qualification or equivalent experience, with at least 3 years in mechanical maintenance and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years in mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to read technical documentation and schematics.
• Knowledge of basic welding and fabrication is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including rotating equipment, pumps, valves and compressors.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and manuals.
• Inspect equipment and report findings, recommending repairs or replacements.
• Adhere to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies during maintenance.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts inventory.

About the Role

Our client requires a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of mechanical equipment at their operational sites near Randburg . This role is integral to maintaining the infrastructure that supports the Oil & Gas sector . You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, and ensuring all equipment meets safety and operational standards. This is a hands-on position critical for operational uptime.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including rotating equipment, pumps, valves, and compressors.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings , blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Conduct equipment inspections and report findings, recommending necessary repairs or replacements.
• Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies during maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and spare parts inventory.

Requirements

• Trade Qualification (e.g., Fitter and Turner, Millwright) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within an industrial or Oil & Gas environment .
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing various types of mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation and schematics.
• Knowledge of basic welding and fabrication techniques is a plus.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
