Job summary

MTrec Recruitment represents a specialist manufacturing client in Gateshead seeking a Temporary Mechanical Technician to join their maintenance team. You will perform general maintenance of plant facilities and equipment, support another junior technician, and respond to breakdowns to keep operations running smoothly.

This is an on-site role with dayshift hours and a potential for permanent progression, and includes a competitive basic rate with on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering/manufacturing maintenance roles.
• NVQ Level 3 in a related discipline is highly desirable.
• Good communication and ability to work in small teams and alone.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance of plant facilities and equipment.
• Assist junior technician and support apprenticeship trainee.
• Respond to urgent breakdowns and resolve promptly.

The Job you will do

• General maintenance of the plant facilities, equipment and premises (pallet trucks, handling equipment, pipeworks etc.)
• Working alongside and supporting another junior maintenance technician who has just completed their apprenticeship
• Reacting to any urgent breakdowns and resolving in a timely manner

About you

• Experience working within engineering/manufacturing in maintenance focused role
• Time served (NVQ Level 3) in a related discipline is highly desirable
• Welding skills (desirable)
• Effective communication skills at all levels
• Able to work well in a small team and independently
