Job summary

MTrec Technical is recruiting a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Dayshift) to join a busy manufacturing site. You will carry out maintenance and repairs on plant machinery, diagnose faults promptly, and minimise downtime through effective fault finding and timely preventive actions.

The ideal candidate has an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Maintenance (HNC desirable), understands hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and can read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3+ in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent; HNC desirable.
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing/engineering environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering/technical information.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all work safely in compliance with site procedures and health and safety legislation.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults and minimise downtime.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant machinery to ensure efficiency.
• Estimate repair times and assess operational impact of delays.
• Record root causes of breakdowns and equipment faults.
• Deliver maintenance to a high standard, meeting quality and operational requirements.
• Support development of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Assist with installation and relocation of plant and equipment.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance reliability.
• Undertake additional engineering duties as assigned by Shift/Engineering Manager.
• Interpret and apply engineering drawings and technical documentation.

The job you'll do

• Carry out all work safely, in full compliance with site procedures and relevant health and safety legislation.

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant machinery and equipment to ensure operational efficiency.

• Deliver all maintenance activities to a high standard, ensuring compliance with quality and operational requirements.

About you

• Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or above in Mechanical Maintenance or similar (HNC is desirable)
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced manufacturing/engineering environment
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical information.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
