Job summary

FCC Environment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at Millerhill EfW Plant, EH22 1SX. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week with paid overtime, operating on-site in Scotland.

You will carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance on site mechanical equipment, diagnose faults, and support maintenance planning while ensuring health and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience maintaining mechanical process plant equipment.
• Strong preventative maintenance and fault-finding skills.
• Experience with pumps, valves, fans, mechanical drives, cranes or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings and technical diagrams.
• Computer literacy including MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative, routine and breakdown maintenance on site mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to maximise plant reliability and availability.
• Work on cranes, pumps, fans, valves, actuators and drive systems.
• Support planned maintenance shutdowns and major repair activities.
• Assist with maintenance planning and scheduling.

What will you be doing?

• Carrying out preventative, routine and breakdown maintenance on site mechanical equipment
• Diagnosing faults and undertaking repairs to maximise plant reliability and availability
• Working on overhead cranes, grabs, pumps, fans, valves, actuators and mechanical drive systems
• Supporting planned maintenance shutdowns and major repair activities
• Assisting with maintenance planning and scheduling activities
• Recording maintenance activities accurately within the Computerised Maintenance Management System
• Supervising contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and effectively
• Providing technical support to operational teams across the site
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant performance and reliability
• Ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with FCC Environment's health, safety, environmental and quality standards

What are we looking for?

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience maintaining mechanical process plant equipment
• Strong preventative maintenance and fault-finding skills
• Experience working with pumps, valves, fans, mechanical drives, cranes or similar equipment
• The ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings and technical diagrams
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible approach and willingness to develop multi-skilled capabilities
