Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to support the maintenance of plant, equipment, and building services across client sites in Farnborough.

The role involves fault finding on a variety of machinery, basic troubleshooting of heavy industrial machines and overhead cranes, and contributing to safe working practices. On-site duties require flexibility for overtime, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering recognised or time-served.
  • Some experience in manufacturing maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Basic electrical qualifications (City and Guilds 236 Pt 1-2 or equivalent) a plus.
  • Mechanical knowledge to a competent standard, ideally with City and Guilds mechanical qualifications.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn about supervising contractors and risk/method statements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying and managing risks related to equipment on site, updating drawings, and helping identify critical spares.
  • Support the maintenance team in keeping a safe and efficient working environment by responding to maintenance requests.
  • Conduct fault finding on machinery, including basic troubleshooting of heavy industrial machines and overhead cranes.
  • Provide support to electrical and mechanical tasks within the maintenance department.
  • Assist in writing and following risk assessments for safe task completion.
  • Work on three-phase systems up to 440V and perform maintenance on motors, gearboxes, valves, etc.
  • Log tasks in CAFM system using mobile devices.
  • Collaborate with onsite services to address building services issues.
  • Be available for overtime, including nights and weekends as required.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as needed.

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team in Farnborough. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the maintenance of plant, equipment, and building services across our client's sites.

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in identifying and managing risks associated with equipment on site, including updating drawings and helping to identify critical spares.
  • Supporting the maintenance team in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment by responding to maintenance requests.
  • Conducting fault finding on a variety of machinery, including basic troubleshooting of heavy industrial machines and overhead cranes.
  • Providing support to the maintenance department with electrical and mechanical tasks.
  • Assisting in writing and following risk assessments to ensure safe and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Working on three-phase systems with voltages up to 440V and performing maintenance on motors, gearboxes, valves, and other equipment.
  • Utilizing mobile devices to accurately log and complete tasks from the CAFM maintenance system.
  • Collaborating with onsite services to address building services-related issues.
  • Being available for overtime, including nights and weekends, as required.
  • Performing ad-hoc duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • Recognized or time-served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Some experience in manufacturing maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic electrical qualifications, such as City and Guilds 236 Pt 1-2 or equivalent, are a plus.
  • Mechanical knowledge to an acceptable standard, ideally with City and Guilds Mechanical qualifications.
  • Good multi-skilled ability and willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with 3-phase motors, drives, and inverters is beneficial.
  • Basic hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge.
  • Ability to assist in fault finding and diagnosing PLC systems is a plus.
  • NVQ qualifications to Level 2 in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines are advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn about supervising contractors and understanding risk and method statements.
