Job summary

Industrialconnected in Essex is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our on-site team. You will maintain production equipment, respond to breakdowns, and carry out planned maintenance, with a focus on fault-finding and component modification.

This role requires experience with manual lathes and milling machines, and a solid understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical control systems.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification.
• Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
• Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines.
• Good understanding of preventative maintenance systems.
• Exposure to PLCs and variable-speed drives (beneficial).
• Ability to diagnose problems and work independently.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise effectively in production settings.

Responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and identify root causes.
• Test machinery after maintenance and repair.
• Maintain and update preventative maintenance schedules.
• Identify and maintain engineering spare parts.
• Manufacture, repair, and modify mechanical components.
• Set and operate manual centre lathes and milling machines.
• Support continuous improvement activities.
• Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Support electrical controls, PLCs, and drives fault finding.
• Maintain high health and safety standards.
