Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is hiring a Maintenance Engineer to provide hands-on support across our production site. The role is 80% mechanical with 20% electrical duties, focusing on reliability and safety of machinery in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will undertake PPM and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement with a team of five engineers. The position is based in Preston, UK, with a 42.5-hour week and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience within the food/FMCG sector.
• Strong mechanical maintenance background.
• NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience working with industrial machinery and production equipment.
• Good understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance (PPM).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across production machinery.
• Support breakdown response to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and repair chains, belts, bearings, drive systems, pumps, valves.
• Work on bagging machinery, conveyors, mixers, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Carry out equipment inspections and identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist fault finding and basic electrical troubleshooting; PLC fault finding a bonus.
• Ensure maintenance follows safety rules and records are kept.
• Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability.

Role Purpose

To provide effective maintenance support across the site, ensuring machinery and production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The role will focus primarily on mechanical maintenance with some electrical support, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of production machinery.
• Support breakdown response to minimise production downtime.
• Maintain and repair:
  • Chains, belts, bearings, and drive systems
  • Pumps and valves
  • Bagging machinery
  • Conveyors and mixers
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Carry out equipment inspections and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with fault finding and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• PLC fault finding experience would be advantageous.
