Job summary

CV Technical is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer for a fast-moving FMCG site in the UK. The role focuses primarily on mechanical maintenance with some electrical duties, fault-finding, and continuous improvement across packaging and processing lines.

You will join a team of engineers and support production with reliable equipment performance, safe practices, and accurate record-keeping. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, relevant NVQ Level 3, and PLC

• Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
• Experience in food/FMCG sector is preferred.
• Strong mechanical maintenance background and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across production machinery.
• Support breakdown response to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, pumps, belts, bearings, and drive systems.
• Carry out inspections and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with fault finding and basic electrical troubleshooting (PLC fault finding advantageous).
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and collaborate with production teams to improve reliability.

Role Purpose

To provide effective maintenance support across the site, ensuring machinery and production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The role will focus primarily on mechanical maintenance with some electrical support, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of production machinery.
• Support breakdown response to minimise production downtime.
• Maintain and repair chains, belts, bearings, and drive systems.
• Maintain and repair pumps and valves.
• Maintain and repair bagging machinery.
• Maintain and repair conveyors and mixers.
• Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Carry out equipment inspections and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with fault finding and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• PLC fault finding experience would be advantageous.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with production teams to improve equipment reliability.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

• Maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience within the food/FMCG sector preferred.
• Strong mechanical maintenance background.
• NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience working with industrial machinery and production equipment.
• Good understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Desirable:

• PLC fault finding experience.
• Electrical maintenance knowledge.
• Experience working within a fast‑paced FMCG environment.

Salary & Benefits Package
