Job summary

Impact Recruitment Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a permanent role in Northamptonshire. The successful candidate will maintain, service and repair a range of production machinery in an industrial environment, with weekend overtime and an on-call rota after probation.

The role requires fault-finding skills, reading mechanical drawings and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, with a competitive salary of £44,000 and company pension + benefits.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship, BTEC, City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience servicing and repairing industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with preventative and scheduled maintenance.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Experience with conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, and rotating machinery is beneficial.
• Willingness to work weekend overtime and join on-call rota after probation.

Job description

Impact Recruitment are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work for a well-established business in Northamptonshire. This is a permanent opportunity offering a salary of £44,000 per year, alongside a company pension and additional benefits.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of production machinery and site equipment. You will need strong mechanical fault-finding skills and experience working within an industrial or manufacturing environment. Please note: You must be willing to work occasional overtime should it be needed and participate in an on call rota following your probationary period.

Daily Duties

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery and site facilities.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out breakdown repairs.
• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of production equipment and machinery.
• Maintaining machine drive mechanisms and associated mechanical systems.
• Working on conveyors, elevators, grinders, weighing equipment and rotating machinery.
• Carrying out maintenance and testing of plant services and site facilities.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical diagrams.
• Using test and measurement equipment to identify and resolve faults.
• Ensuring process systems, safety systems and site facilities are maintained to a high standard.
• Following all relevant health and safety procedures.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• Recognised apprenticeship, BTEC, City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification, or significant experience within a similar engineering environment.
• Previous experience servicing and repairing industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with preventative and scheduled maintenance.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Experience working with conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, motors or other rotating machinery would be beneficial.
• Multi-skilled experience, particularly with electrical systems and pneumatics, would be an advantage.
• Previous experience working with food production or processing machinery would be beneficial.
• Must be flexible and willing to work weekend overtime.
• Must be able to participate in an on-call rota following a satisfactory probationary period of up to six months.
