Job summary

CDM Recruitment is working with a major engineering and manufacturing business in Newcastle to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician. This hands-on role covers reactive and preventative maintenance across a large manufacturing site, including fault finding on electrical control systems.

The position follows five 12-hour day shifts and five 12-hour night shifts on a 21-day cycle, delivering 15 days off with no weekend work.

Qualifications

• Time-served Electrical Maintenance Technician or Engineer with an electrical apprenticeship.
• Maintenance experience within manufacturing, production or engineering.
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• PLC fault finding/diagnostic experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Reactive, planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
• Electrical fault finding and breakdown response.
• Maintenance of manufacturing and production equipment.
• Fault finding on electrical control systems, motors, sensors and associated equipment.
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
• Root cause analysis and equipment reliability improvements.
• Supporting machinery installation and commissioning.
• Continuous improvement and downtime reduction.

This is a hands on electrical maintenance role working across a substantial manufacturing site, covering reactive and preventative maintenance, breakdowns, electrical fault finding and equipment improvement.

The shift pattern is a major benefit: five 12-hour day shifts and five 12-hour night shifts across a 21-day cycle, giving you 15 days off in every 21 with no weekend working.
