Job summary

Adecco client in Northumberland seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to maintain production machinery and plant equipment in a modern manufacturing setup. You will perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance to ensure reliability and performance, with a focus on safety, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Essential: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / ONC / HNC or equivalent.
  • Essential: Experience as Electrical Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing.
  • Essential: Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Essential: Read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Essential: PLC fault-finding experience.
  • Desirable: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations; PLC systems experience (Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi).

Responsibilities

  • Execute planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise downtime and maximise machine availability.
  • Perform fault finding on electrical systems including sensors, switches, relays, motors, drives, and control circuits.
  • Install, repair and maintain electrical cabling, wiring systems, and machine control equipment.
  • Support machine upgrades, modifications and continuous improvement projects.
  • Conduct PLC fault finding and diagnostics to identify and rectify machine issues.
  • Assist with commissioning and testing of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update documentation as required.
  • Liaise with production teams to ensure efficient resolution of equipment issues.
  • Support contractors and external service providers as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations during maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to preventative maintenance schedules and best practises.
  • Provide technical support to operators and production personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

About You:
Essential:
  • Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in an Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Electrician role within manufacturing.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Familiarity with sensors, switches, contactors, motors, and control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience in PLC fault-finding.
  • Knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance practises.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience working with PLC systems such as, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or similar.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or TPM methodologies.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Excellent electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and machine controls.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to maintenance activities.
