Job summary

Proactive Global in Kettering is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing operations. This workshop-based role focuses on planned and reactive maintenance, machining, refurbishment and continuous improvement.

You will operate lathes and milling machines, refurbish pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and shafts, and support engineering projects. Apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering is required, with hands-on experience in a manufacturing or workshop setting.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing, maintenance or workshop environments.
• Experience operating manual lathes and other workshop machinery.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Starting Salary: £60,000

Monday to Friday | 07:30 - 15:30

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading manufacturing business in Kettering. This is a primarily workshop-based role, ideal for a mechanically skilled engineer with strong machining, refurbishment, and maintenance experience.

The Role

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Perform lathe work and machining activities to manufacture, modify, and refurbish components.
• Repair and refurbish plant equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, shafts and rollers.
• Operate workshop machinery including lathes, grinders, and milling machines.

About You

• Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, maintenance, or workshop environments.
• Experience operating manual lathes and other workshop machinery.
• Experience supporting breakdowns, planned maintenance, and engineering projects.
