Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a heavy engineering manufacturer in Dudley. The role focuses on maintaining and improving large-scale plant equipment and processes.

The position offers a basic salary up to £35,000 per annum with overtime at £20 per hour and Sunday rate at £33.65 per hour. Shifts are 40 hours per week (day, afternoon, night) to support production targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industrial environments (foundry, steel, quarrying, aggregates, cement, or similar).
• Strong mechanical fitting and clear fault-finding ability.
• Experience with hydraulics, valves, cylinders, bearings, rotating equipment.
• Welding, cutting and grinding skills.
• Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge.
• Hands-on approach and strong commitment to safety.
• Foundry experience is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain gearboxes, bearings, cylinders, valves, pumps, and rotating equipment.
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and general fabrication work.
• Support TPM and continuous improvement activities.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve plant performance.
• Contribute to safety, reliability, and operational improvements.

The role offers a basic salary up to £35,000 per annum with overtime at £20 per hour and at £33.65 on Sundays. Shifts include day, afternoon, and night, each 40 hours per week.

• Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
