Job summary

GPW Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for an established manufacturing operation in Bradford.

You will carry out planned preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, repair equipment, manage spares, and work with SAP/CMMS. The role is permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with a £43,000 salary dependent on experience. On-site parking and a company bonus scheme included.

Qualifications

  • A recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical faults.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximise plant reliability.
  • Undertake mechanical and electrical repairs on processing equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and perform fault finding during breakdowns.
  • Record maintenance activities in SAP/CMMS systems.
  • Develop risk assessments and method statements for engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with contractors on maintenance projects.
  • Maintain spares stock and ensure safe maintenance practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Bradford
Salary: £43,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Role

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing operation in Bradford.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Undertake planned and emergency mechanical and electrical repairs on processing equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective fault finding during breakdown situations.
  • Complete follow-up actions and accurately record maintenance activities using SAP or a CMMS system.
  • Develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements for engineering activities.
  • Work alongside contractors during planned maintenance and engineering projects.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate stock levels of machinery spares and consumables.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with industry best practice.
  • Support continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
About You
  • A recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, processing or industrial environment.
  • Practical experience of mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Some previous experience of electrical maintenance and fault finding.
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical equipment faults.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • Experience using SAP, CMMS or maintenance management systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A flexible, proactive and team-focused approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently and remain calm when dealing with emergency breakdowns.
