Job summary

Mego Employment is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a leading Plymouth-based manufacturing company. You will maintain and improve production assets, perform preventative maintenance, fault finding and breakdown repairs, driving operational efficiency.

Essential experience includes proven mechanical maintenance in manufacturing, strong fault-finding, and a solid health & safety understanding. Desirable PLC knowledge and 18th Edition qualification are valued.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing or production.
• Strong fault-finding skills with breakdown repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative planned maintenance to ensure machinery reliability and asset safety.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs on manufacturing equipment and production assets.
• Identify equipment and process limitations, supporting corrective action improvements.
• Work with and install single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits where required.
• Follow health, safety, environmental, and quality standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: Plymouth

Salary: Up to £49,000 per annum

Shifts: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, varied shift pattern including back shifts, nights, weekends, and bank holidays

• Ability to work under pressure, communicate effectively, and undertake a varied shift pattern.

Desirable:

• Time-served within a mechanically biased maintenance engineering role.


• Basic knowledge of PLC control systems and multi-skilled engineering practices.


• 18th Edition electrical qualification and knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing techniques.
