Job summary

INDSW is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a busy Barnsley site. You will maintain, repair and fault-find a wide range of production machinery, aiming to minimise downtime and improve reliability in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

The role requires strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills, knowledge of pneumatics/hydraulics, CMMS experience and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Monday–Friday day shift with overtime when required.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years' industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience as Maintenance Engineer / Electrical Technician in manufacturing.
  • Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
  • Good understanding of mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Experience using CMMS / maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to diagnose breakdowns efficiently and minimise downtime.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with contractors.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and use initiative.
  • Flexibility to work overtime to support production.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance and repairs on production machinery, plant and equipment.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise breakdowns and downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively.
  • Fault find on mechanical systems, including gearboxes and related equipment.
  • Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and circuits.
  • Liaise with on-site contractors and remote service engineers.
  • Use a CMMS maintenance system to record maintenance activities, breakdowns and completed work.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of critical engineering spare parts.
  • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and mentor apprentices within the maintenance team.
  • Work independently and respond to breakdowns with initiative.
  • Support the wider engineering team with overtime when required.

Electrical Maintenance Technician – BarnsleyWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a busy manufacturing site in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Engineer / Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, modern production environment.

Working as part of a dedicated maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and fault-finding on a wide range of production machinery and plant equipment. You will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and ensuring production continues to operate safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys diagnosing faults, solving technical problems and working proactively to keep machinery running.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out electrical maintenance and repairs on production machinery, plant and equipment

Requirements
  • A relevant NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 4 years' industrial maintenance experience
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Technician or Engineering Technician
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, production or industrial engineering environment
  • Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding skills
  • Good understanding of mechanical maintenance and machinery
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance
  • Experience using CMMS / computerised maintenance management systems
  • Ability to diagnose breakdowns efficiently and minimise production downtime
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with contractors and external engineers
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and use your own initiative
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required to support production

Working HoursMonday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

This is a days-based maintenance position, offering a consistent Monday-to-Friday working pattern within an established manufacturing environment.
