Orion Electrotech in Ash Vale is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. The role is on-site, full-time, with Monday–Friday days and a salary up to £42–45k. You will maintain a diverse range of machinery, from vintage equipment to modern automated lines, and play a key role in the maintenance team. The position offers Pension, Holidays, and Overtime.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders)
• Experience in a supervisory or team-lead role within manufacturing
• Apprenticeship or formal mechanical engineering qualification is required

Responsibilities

• Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a varied range of machinery
• Assist in mechanical assembly and build-out of bespoke welding machines for testing and client sites
• Own the site maintenance schedule and implement a robust PPM program
• Identify and implement mechanical/electrical improvements to enhance safety and production efficiency
• Collaborate with the maintenance team and production heads to prioritise workloads

Monday to Friday Days (7.30-4pm and 3pm finish on Fridays)

We are looking for an Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Location: Ash Vale Position Type: Full-Time Role Overview We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for the Mechanical maintenance of our diverse range of machinery, from vintage 1950s equipment to modern automated lines, remains operational and efficient. You will also play a key role in the maintenance team.

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Role

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Maintenance: Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a varied range of machinery, including grinding, milling, and turning machines, sintering furnaces, and dedicated wire-making lines.
• Machine Builds: Actively participate in the mechanical assembly and build-out of our bespoke welding machines at our factory for testing and across the globe at client sites for final installation and commissioning.
• Site-Wide Planning: Take full ownership of the site-wide maintenance schedule, implementing a robust Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) program to reduce reactive downtime.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and implement mechanical and electrical improvements across the site to enhance safety, reduce downtime, and increase production efficiency.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the maintenance team and heads of production to prioritise workloads and ensure smooth operation.

What We're Looking For in the Electrical Maintenance Engineer

• Mechanical Expertise: Strong, hands-on mechanical background with proven experience in maintaining manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Education & Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds qualification.
