Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, perform planned maintenance and lead project work on production machinery.
  • Respond to breakdowns with prompt, safe repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Support site maintenance activities and ensure equipment operates safely and reliably.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements at all times and document maintenance logs.

Job description

Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Fitter / Multi-Skilled Engineer – Mechanical Bias

Salary: £Negotiable

Hours: Mon to Fri, 08:00am till 4:00pm - flexibility required

Location: Commutable from Chichester, Bognor Regis, Worthing, Arundel, Shoreham, Ashington and surrounding areas

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer, mechanical bias, to work within a small and successful factory near Worthing. You will benefit from a varied role and fast faced environment, turning your hands to many areas of the factory, focusing on ensuring production machines stay operational. It is roughly a 75%/25% split from mechanical to electrical, so someone who is mechanically qualified with some electrical experience is required.

Responsibilities
  • This role will involve all aspects of plant maintenance from troubleshooting, planned maintenance and project work.
  • The role is very biased to reactive and dealing with breakdowns.
  • Whether you are undertaking PPM or reacting quickly & efficiently to breakdowns, you will ensure a high standard of plant maintenance is always achieved and will assist across all maintenance activities on site.
  • The successful candidate will be working as part of the maintenance team ensuring that all plant equipment is operating efficiently with the minimum amount of downtime and in a safe order.
  • You will also need to adhere to strict health and safety requirements at all times.
  • The role will include all mechanical issues including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Belts, Chains, Gear Boxes, Pumps, Bearings, Welding, and with some electrical work as well.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship or hold engineering qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Good experience of maintaining plant machinery through fault finding, planned maintenance, shutdowns and project work.
  • Has good attention to detail - ensuring repairs are carried out to a high quality - promptly and safely.
  • Friendly and adaptable working attitude, with the hunger to learn and physically fit.
  • Proactive work attitude and keen to get stuck in.
  • Provide good communication to both colleagues and production, keeping the required logs of maintenance work.
  • Always work safely and follow safe systems of work.
  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed.
