Job summary

Interaction Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Fitter / Steel Erector for hands-on site assignments involving mechanical installation and structural steelwork. You will join a team and contribute to on-site projects, ensuring quality and safety. A strong mechanical background and valid tickets (B1, IPAF 3A/3B) are essential.

Mechanical Fitter / Steel Erector

Starting salary: £19.50-£21.50 per hour, depending on experience, skills and relevant qualifications

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter / Steel Erector to join our team. This is a hands‑on role involving mechanical installation, structural steelwork and site‑based projects.

We're looking for someone with a strong mechanical and site installation background who takes pride in their work, can work effectively as part of a team and is confident solving problems on site.

What we offer

• 39-hour basic working week
• Overtime paid at 1.5x
• 24 days' annual holiday + bank holidays
• £19.50-£21.50 per hour, depending on skillset, experience and relevant tickets

Essential skills and qualifications

Applicants should have:

• Good mechanical and site installation knowledge
• Experience with structural steelwork installation
• Valid B1 certificate - refresher training can be provided
• Valid IPAF 3A & 3B dual category - refresher training can be provided
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• A practical approach to problem solving
• A full driving licence
• A strong commitment to working safely and to a high standard

Desirable skills and experience

It would be advantageous if you also have:

• J3 certification
• Experience or familiarity with food factory processes and environments
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
• Flexibility and willingness to work away from home occasionally, typically for around one week at a time

You'll be a practical, reliable and safety‑conscious individual who is comfortable working on site and as part of a team. You'll have a can‑do attitude, good attention to detail and the ability to work independently when required.
