Job description

Mechanical Fitter

Location: Rugby

Salary: £30,000 DOE

Working Hours: Days Regular

We are currently looking for experienced and competent Mechanical Fitters for a reputable client of ours based in Rugby, with skills in mechanical installation focused on quality engineering precision.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Manufacturing & Production Manager and having accountability for the mechanical build for assigned tasks, the individual shall work as part of a team and be responsible for the self-inspection of assembled components including quality compliance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Carry out mechanical fitting and relevant assembly work.
2. Correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including power tools, test equipment, and measuring instruments.
3. Install, position, and secure equipment and components in accordance with the specification and ensure that all necessary connections to the equipment are complete.
4. Use the appropriate methods and techniques to assemble the components in their correct positions, securing the components using the specified connectors and securing devices.
5. Work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
6. Correctly instruct, supervise, and transfer skills to any apprentice and semi-skilled led worker assigned to you to ensure safety and quality of work.
7. Test all products safely.
8. Use safety equipment, PPE, and protective devices and equipment.

Person Specification:

1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Mechanical Fitter.
2. Build to sample/build to verbal instructions.
3. Mechanical duties, such as cutting, drilling, tapping, and soldering.
4. Cooler build.
5. Brazing (as trained).
6. Self-inspection of all work.
7. Maintain documentation of process.
8. Stores/parts kitting.
9. Stock take duties.
10. Work as a team when needed.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
