Page Personnel is supporting a leading recycling and resource recovery business in Nottingham by recruiting an interim Mechanical Fitter. The role involves carrying out preventive maintenance, diagnosing faults on conveyors, pumps and gearboxes, and minimising downtime through prompt breakdown responses.

You will read engineering drawings, work with engineering teams, and ensure safety procedures are followed. CMMS record-keeping and site upgrade support are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance.
• Experience as Mechanical Fitter or similar in manufacturing or heavy industrial settings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.

Responsabilités

Our client is a leading recycling and resource recovery business in Nottingham operating a large-scale engineering and maintenance function. They are looking for an interim Mechanical Fitter.

Job Description

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and processing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, shredders, crushers, and associated plant machinery.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Install, maintain, and replace mechanical components and equipment as required.
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and report potential issues before failure occurs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve plant reliability and performance.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
• Support site improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and new installations.
• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with contractor management and oversee external maintenance activities when required.

The Successful Applicant

• NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or Mechanical Technician within a manufacturing, recycling, waste management, process, or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Experience conducting fault-finding and breakdown repairs.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
• Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous.
