Job summary

Page Personnel is supporting a leading recycling and resource recovery business in Nottingham by recruiting an interim Mechanical Fitter. The role involves carrying out preventive maintenance, diagnosing faults on conveyors, pumps and gearboxes, and minimising downtime through prompt breakdown responses.

You will read engineering drawings, work with engineering teams, and ensure safety procedures are followed. CMMS record-keeping and site upgrade support are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance.
• Experience as Mechanical Fitter or similar in manufacturing or heavy industrial settings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on production and processing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, shredders, crushers and related plant.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Install, maintain and replace mechanical components as required.
• Inspect machinery and report potential issues before failure occurs.
• Read engineering drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Support site improvement projects and new installations.
• Maintain maintenance records using a CMMS.
• Assist with contractor management and oversee external maintenance activities.
