Job summary

UKL TRADES LIMITED in Milton Keynes is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to lead mechanical pricing across HVAC, heating, plumbing, and related building services. You will own tenders from enquiry to submission and work with suppliers and delivery teams to shape winning bids.

The role focuses on converting opportunities into commercially viable projects, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and contributing to pre-construction development. A competitive package awaits in MK.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services or M&E.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating and plumbing.
• Experience working on commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out or FM-related projects.
• Ability to confidently interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of mechanical estimates from initial enquiry through to tender submission.
• Reviewing drawings and specifications to produce accurate take-offs and cost plans.
• Pricing labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and securing competitive quotations.
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving solutions.
• Working closely with project and delivery teams to ensure estimates are practical and commercially viable.
• Supporting tender submissions and presenting clear, well-structured commercial information.
• Keeping up to date with market rates, supplier costs and industry trends.
