Job summary

Bimplus in Manchester is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to own pre-construction tenders for HVAC, air conditioning and M&E projects. You will manage the tender from enquiry through submission and handover to delivery teams.

Key duties include detailed estimating, take-offs, supplier and subcontractor quotations, risk and value engineering, and mentoring junior estimators in a growing contractor. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tenders will be essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in mechanical / HVAC estimating.
• Background with HVAC, air conditioning or M&E contractor.
• Good knowledge of: Air conditioning, VRF / VRV, Ventilation, Mechanical building services.
• Confident reading drawings and specifications.
• Good supplier and subcontractor knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
• Able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical and HVAC estimates.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Complete take-offs and build accurate cost plans.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Price labour, materials, plant and specialist packages.
• Identify risks, exclusions and value-engineering opportunities.
• Produce competitive tenders and commercial proposals.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal teams.
• Support tender reviews and handover to delivery teams.
• Mentor junior estimators where required.
