Job summary

Buildspace Group in Milton Keynes is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to lead the mechanical estimates for diverse commercial projects. You will own tenders from enquiry through submission, working closely with suppliers and delivery teams to ensure competitive, robust pricing.

The role focuses on HVAC, heating and plumbing systems, with an emphasis on value engineering and practical, commercially viable estimates to shape winning bids.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services or M&E.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC and plumbing.
• Experience on commercial construction, refurbishment, or FM projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings and tender documentation confidently.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of mechanical estimates from enquiry to tender submission
• Reviewing drawings and specifications to produce accurate take-offs and cost plans
• Pricing labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages
• Building strong supplier relationships and securing competitive quotations
• Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
• Collaborating with project and delivery teams to ensure viable estimates
• Supporting tender submissions with clear, structured commercial information
• Staying updated on market rates and industry cost trends
