Mechanical Engineer

Hours: 4 on 4 off 5.30-5.30
We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team. You'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving production equipment, minimising downtime, and ensuring our factory operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

What You'll Be Doing
- Responding quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
- Fault finding and repairing a wide range of manufacturing machinery
- Working with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and OEE
- Recording maintenance activities and parts usage through SAP
- Working closely with production and engineering colleagues to maximise factory performance
- Assisting with equipment modifications and improvement projects
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent recognised in the UK)
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong focus on safety, quality and attention to detail
Desirable
- Food manufacturing experience
- Experience working with automated production equipment
- Knowledge of poultry processing machinery
- Welding experience, ideally TIG welding
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
- Computer literacy and experience using maintenance systems
- 17th/18th Edition electrical qualification
- Industrial engineering experience
