Job summary

Pilgrim's Europe, a leading food manufacturing business, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Anwick. You will maintain and improve production equipment, minimise downtime and ensure safe, efficient and reliable factory operation.

Join a fast-paced environment where you will tackle fault finding, plan PMs, work with hydraulics and pneumatics, and contribute to continuous improvement and OEE.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (or UK equivalent) required.
  • Manufacturing environment experience essential.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and attentiveness to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly and effectively.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
  • Fault-find and repair a wide range of manufacturing machinery.
  • Work with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Support continuous improvement to boost reliability and OEE.
  • Record maintenance activities and parts usage in SAP.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to maximise performance.
  • Assist with equipment modifications and improvement projects.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety procedures.

Mechanical Engineer

Location: Anwick

Hours: 4 on 4 off 5.30-5.30

We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team. You'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving production equipment, minimising downtime, and ensuring our factory operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working with modern manufacturing equipment, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Responding quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
  • Fault finding and repairing a wide range of manufacturing machinery
  • Working with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and OEE
  • Recording maintenance activities and parts usage through SAP
  • Working closely with production and engineering colleagues to maximise factory performance
  • Assisting with equipment modifications and improvement projects
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent recognised in the UK)
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong focus on safety, quality and attention to detail
Desirable
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Experience working with automated production equipment
  • Knowledge of poultry processing machinery
  • Welding experience, ideally TIG welding
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Computer literacy and experience using maintenance systems
  • 17th/18th Edition electrical qualification
  • Industrial engineering experience
