Job summary

Northcote M&E, a Nottingham-founded M&E and low carbon consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their head office team. You’ll work closely with experienced directors on projects where low carbon design is the priority.

You’ll design mechanical services, perform load calculations, develop low carbon heating and ventilation strategies, produce drawings, and coordinate with electrical and design teams, with mentoring and support towards chartership.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Building services mechanical design experience, ideally in a consultancy.
• Good knowledge of CIBSE guidance and relevant Building Regulations.
• Hevacomp, IES VE or similar, plus AutoCAD; Revit MEP an advantage.
• Proactive, organised and comfortable dealing with clients.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical services, including heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water and drainage.
• Carry out load calculations, system sizing and plant selection.
• Design low carbon heating and ventilation strategies, including heat pumps, heat networks and MVHR.
• Contribute to energy strategies, Part L compliance and thermal modelling.
• Produce drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Coordinate with electrical and design teams, and support site inspections and commissioning.
