Job summary

Nicholas Associates is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Manufacturing and Engineering team near Redditch. The role focuses on die design and press tool development using Solidworks, delivering precision tooling for high-accuracy components.

Applicants should have proven sheet metal press tool design experience and a relevant qualification (HNC/HND or Degree, or toolmaking apprenticeship with design exposure).

Responsibilities

• Design press tools and fixtures using Solidworks.
• Contribute to tool development within the Manufacturing and Engineering team.
• Work with cross-functional teams to meet production requirements.

Hours: Monday to Thursday (7.30am - 4.30pm) Friday (7.30am - 12.30pm) - 39 hours per week

Overview

With manufacturing facilities located across the UK, we now require a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Manufacturing and Engineering team. You will part of a large engineering function of Manufacturing Engineers with a key focus on press tool design.

Requirements

• Proven experience in sheet metal press tool design, with a distinct portfolio of small, high-precision components.
• Competent with Solidworks.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, OR a completed Toolmaking Apprenticeship paired with design experience.
• Commutable from: Redditch, Alcester, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Coventry, Worcester, Birmingham and surrounding areas.
