Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design, manufacture, testing and deployment of new products. You will work in a multidisciplinary team, delivering practical engineering solutions from concept through to verification and documentation.

The role covers design for manufacture, component and assembly validation, and close collaboration with non-technical stakeholders. Occasional travel to GE MRO sites is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing and specifying mechanical components and assemblies.
• Experience using CAD software.
• Experience producing manufacturing drawings.
• Experience carrying out physical analysis of components, including Excel/FEA.
• Experience in design for manufacture.
• Experience verification/validation through testing.
• Experience producing technical documentation.
• Basic experience using workshop tools.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with mechanical engineering activities across design, manufacture, testing and deployment of new products.
• Contribute to concept design, ideation and down-selection of solutions.
• Model components and assemblies in 3D CAD.
• Analyse designs to identify failure modes and assess tolerances.
• Produce manufacturing drawings with GD&T for manufacture and assembly.
• Support rapid prototyping and testing using methods including in-house 3D printing.
• Generate technical documentation to communicate designs and test outcomes clearly.
• Communicate technical information effectively with colleagues from non-technical disciplines.
• Occasionally travel to GE MRO sites to support research and testing.
