Job summary

GE Aerospace in the United Kingdom is seeking a mechanical design engineer to support the design, manufacture, testing and deployment of new products. You will contribute to concept design, model components in 3D CAD and generate drawings with GD&T for production.

You will analyse designs to mitigate failures, support rapid prototyping and communicate technical information clearly within the project team. Occasional travel to GE MRO sites may be required.

Responsibilities

Job description

  • Support project teams with a broad range of mechanical engineering activities across the design, manufacture, testing and deployment of new products.
  • Contribute to concept design, including ideation, refinement and down-selection of solutions.
  • Model components and assemblies in 3D CAD.
  • Analyse component designs to identify and mitigate potential failure modes and assess tolerance stack-ups.
  • Produce component and assembly drawings, including GD&T, for manufacture and assembly in line with established processes.
  • Support rapid prototyping and testing of components and assemblies using a variety of manufacturing methods, including in-house 3D printing.
  • Generate technical documentation to communicate designs, decisions and test outcomes clearly to project team members.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively through meetings, digital communications, reports and day-to-day collaboration.
  • Communicate technical functionality and requirements effectively with colleagues from non-technical disciplines.
  • Travel occasionally to GE MRO sites to support customer research and product testing. Travel may occasionally extend over multiple days, though rarely more than one working week.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role and business needs.

The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in mechanical component and assembly design, clear technical communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery. This role is well suited to someone who is motivated, adaptable and comfortable contributing across design, analysis, prototyping, testing and documentation activities., Experience in the design and specification of mechanical components and assemblies.
