Mech Electrics Limited is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Critical Infrastructure team. This role involves design of mechanical infrastructure for data centres and critical environments, with lifecycle involvement from tender concepts through construction and handover.
You’ll work on chilled water systems, high-efficiency cooling and building services, liaising with clients, contractors and suppliers, and may act as Lead Mechanical Designer on projects.
Oldham / Manchester | Permanent | Excellent Salary + Benefits
Mech Electrics are recruiting for a long-standing client we've proudly worked with for over 15 years, helping them recruit engineering professionals as the business has grown into one of the UK's leading specialists in critical infrastructure.
We're now looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding Critical Infrastructure team.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer who wants to see their designs become reality.
Rather than working solely within consultancy, you'll become involved across the complete project lifecycle - developing tender concepts, progressing secured projects through detailed design and ultimately supporting construction, commissioning and handover.
You’ll design mechanical infrastructure for technically demanding environments where resilience, efficiency and reliability are fundamental.
Projects are predominantly within the Data Centre and Critical Infrastructure sectors and include sophisticated cooling and mechanical systems designed around resilient, continuously operational environments.
You’ll work closely with clients, contractors, specialist suppliers and the wider in-house engineering team, with the opportunity to act as Lead Mechanical Designer on mechanically biased projects.
We’re looking for someone with a genuine Mechanical Building Services background and a good understanding of how systems are designed, installed and commissioned.
Ideally you’ll have:
Experience may have been gained with an M&E contractor, specialist contractor or Building Services consultancy. For consultancy candidates, we’re particularly interested in people who enjoy getting close to construction and seeing their engineering solutions delivered on site.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your career producing drawings that disappear into somebody else’s construction team.
You’ll work within an engineering-led contractor where Design, Pre-Construction and Operations work closely together, giving you visibility of projects from the first client conversation through to completed installation.
The business continues to grow across the UK and internationally, providing genuine long-term progression for technically ambitious engineers.
We’ve recruited for this business for over 15 years and can give you genuine insight into the company, its projects, culture and career opportunities
