Due to continued organic growth and the decision to expand its in-house Building Services capability, our client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing Manchester team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer looking for greater project ownership than a traditional design-only consultancy position. The successful candidate will combine Mechanical Building Services design with client interaction, surveys, site involvement and project management, taking projects from initial design through to successful delivery. The role would particularly suit a high-level Intermediate or Senior Engineer who enjoys seeing how their designs are implemented in practice and wants the opportunity to manage their own projects.
Produce Mechanical Building Services designs across a varied portfolio of projects. Design and specify mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, cooling, domestic water and associated building services. Produce calculations, specifications, reports and technical design information. Work predominantly using AutoCAD and Revit, alongside appropriate Mechanical design and calculation software. Undertake surveys and assessments of existing buildings and services. Take projects from initial brief and design through to construction and completion. Attend client meetings and provide technical advice throughout project delivery. Liaise and coordinate with Architects, Engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders. Attend site meetings, undertake inspections and resolve technical issues during construction. Manage elements of programme, coordination and project delivery. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients. Work across projects within Education, Healthcare, Local Authority, Social Housing and other sectors. Support the continued development of the consultancy's in-house Mechanical Engineering capability. Have the opportunity to recommend and implement improvements to Mechanical design software and processes.
