Job summary

Mech Electrics Limited is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Critical Infrastructure team. This role involves design of mechanical infrastructure for data centres and critical environments, with lifecycle involvement from tender concepts through construction and handover.

You’ll work on chilled water systems, high-efficiency cooling and building services, liaising with clients, contractors and suppliers, and may act as Lead Mechanical Designer on projects.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Mechanical or Building Services engineering (HNC/HND or degree).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and building services design.
• Experience in Data Centres or Critical Infrastructure is a plus.
• Commercial awareness and ability to interact with clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs from tender concept through construction stages.
• Design chilled water and high-efficiency cooling systems for critical environments.
• Produce mechanical schematics, specifications, calculations and submissions.
• Develop designs through RIBA stages and support construction delivery.
• Review client specifications, drawings and requirements.
• Carry out site surveys and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, system integrators and other designers.
• Review submissions and support commissioning activities.
• Contribute technically to tenders and client presentations.
• Attend client and project meetings and explain engineering solutions.
