Job summary

Equans is recruiting a Mechanical Craftsperson for a permanent, full-time position based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The role involves maintaining NHS Trust services, performing mechanical craft tasks, and ensuring compliance with KPI and contract requirements.

The ideal candidate holds NVQ/C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing, has Legionella/ TMV knowledge, and a DBS check is required. Salary £30,000–£35,000 with a comprehensive benefits package and on‑call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• NVQ or C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing.
• Legionella/TMV/Disinfection awareness and training.
• Water Hygiene Training (Desirable).
• Driving licence.
• This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertake duties to maintain all services to the NHS Trust and complete paperwork.
• Perform the full range of Mechanical Craftsperson tasks as directed by management.
• Operate in accordance with KPI’s and contract requirements.
• Apply knowledge of water/mechanical systems within a healthcare environment.
• Carry out Legionella and other water pathogen related activities.
• Conduct temperature monitoring, TMV and AHU servicing, and related tasks.
• Drive the company vehicle as required to meet service needs.
• Participate in the on‑call rota.

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Undertake any reasonable duties directed by TSM/Supervisor/Helpdesk to maintain all services to the NHS Trust, and ensure that all associated paperwork is completed in a satisfactory, accurate and prompt manner.
• Perform the complete range of Mechanical Craftsperson tasks as required or directed by management.
• Carry out all works in compliance with EQUANS KPI’s and contract.
• Have a knowledge of water / mechanical systems within a healthcare environment and maintenance / testing activities.
• Have a knowledge of Legionella and other water pathogens.
• Undertake temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and disinfection, tank visual inspections, TMV servicing, AHU servicing, to name a few.
• Drive the company vehicle as required to meet the needs of the service.
• Take part in on call rota.
