Job summary

VIQU IT is recruiting a Mechanical Chassis Design Engineer for a Warwick-based hybrid role. You will join a small chassis team, taking concepts through validation, production support and field fixes.

You should have 3–4 years of mechanical design experience in vehicles or heavy machinery, with strong knowledge of chassis structures, sheet-metal components, and the ability to read and produce precise drawings using Solid Edge.

Qualifications

• Experience designing fabricated or sheet-metal components and assemblies.
• Ability to read and produce high-quality technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design chassis systems and mechanical components.
• Produce drawings and bills of materials (BOM).
• Support DVP&R, design reviews and product validation.
• Resolve manufacturing and field issues via root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.

The role offers scope to progress from component-level design into wider systems architecture and project engineering responsibilities.Key responsibilities include:Designing and detailing chassis systems, structures and mechanical componentsProducing engineering drawings and accurate Bills of MaterialsSupporting DVP&R, design reviews and product validationResolving manufacturing, build and field-service issues through root-cause analysisWorking with suppliers, customers and cross-functional engineering teamsConsidering manufacturability, cost, quality and performance throughout the design processCore technologies and engineering areas include 3D CAD, ideally Solid Edge, BS 8888, sheet metal, fabricated structures, welding, fasteners, BOM creation, DVP&R and Design for Manufacture and Assembly.RequirementsAt least 3-4 years' mechanical design experience within vehicles, yellow goods, heavy machinery, trailers, tankers or a similar industrial environmentStrong understanding of chassis structures, systems integration, stress, strain and fatigueExperience designing fabricated or sheet-metal components, brackets and structural assembliesAbility to read and produce high-quality technical drawingsConfident communication skills and the ability to make clear engineering decisionsHNC, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering experienceApply now to speak with VIQU IT in confidence.
