Job summary

Tech Connect Group on behalf of a UK client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Chassis Team. You will develop innovative concepts from concept through to production and contribute to market-leading products.

You should have an HNC/HND or apprenticeship and 2+ years in mechanical design, preferably in automotive, with Solid Edge CAD proficiency and experience with design for manufacture and BOM creation.

Flexible working up to 2 days WFH after settling in.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• M/BEng or Chartered Engineer desirable.
• 2+ years experience in mechanical design, automotive sector preferred.

Overview:

We're recruiting on behalf of a client for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Chassis' Team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative concepts and design the next generation of market-leading products, supporting the team from concept through to production.

We're looking for someone witha background in design for manufacture/ heavy fabrications design.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, engineer, and validate new systems and components from concept to production.

Communicate design requirements clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Support product launches and provide engineering assistance to resolve production and field issues.

Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.

Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.

Person Profile / Requirements:

Qualifications:

HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential).

M/BEng or Chartered Engineer (desirable).

Experience & Skills:

2+ years industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within automotive or related sectors.

Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, material specifications, and design methodology.

Experience with manufacturing processes, design for manufacture & assembly, and problem-solving.

Proficient in CAD (ideally Solid Edge), BS8888 drawing standards, and BOM creation.
