Job summary

Associated British Ports is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Asset Manager for the Southampton port. You will bridge project and engineering teams, owning asset lifecycle knowledge and driving TotEx investment plans up to five years ahead.

The role requires managing a diverse mechanical asset base, prioritising maintenance and projects, and delivering improvements in asset availability and cost efficiency while complying with regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related field.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
• Knowledge of asset management regulations and policies.
• Experience with strategic asset management and life cycle planning.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Enhance asset performance, reliability, and utilisation across multiple asset types.
• Define asset ownership from procurement to disposal, including refurbishment.
• Monitor asset performance through audits and reviews to improve availability and cost efficiency.
• Produce TotEx investment plans (5yr–1yr) with robust asset data.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory asset management requirements.
• Develop and embed Strategic Asset Management Plans (SAMP) with Technical Authority.
• Create Individual Asset Management Plans (IAMP) for critical assets.
