Job summary

Vbeyond is seeking an experienced Maximo Database Administrator to back a major upgrade and migration programme in the Aerospace and Defence sector. The role focuses on lifting and shifting an existing Maximo 7.6/oracle setup to MAS 9.x on DB2, hosted on Azure.

You will lead Oracle-to-DB2 migrations, optimise DB2 performance, implement backup/recovery, and ensure security and compliance throughout the project.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience as a DB2 Database Administrator.
• Proven Oracle-to-DB2 migration experience.
• Knowledge of DB2 installation, configuration, administration and tuning.
• Proficient in DB2 performance optimisation and backup/recovery strategies.
• Experience securing and ensuring compliance for databases.
• Familiarity with PL/SQL and refactoring procedures for DB2 compatibility.
• Experience with Maximo / MAS environments and related migrations.
• Exposure to Azure Cloud deployments and cloud-based DB2 setups.
• Experience with database migration and upgrade programmes.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maximo Database Administrator to support a major Maximo upgrade and database migration programme within the Aerospace & Defence sector.

The project involves the technical upgrade of an existing Maximo 7.6 environment running on Oracle to Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9.x running on DB2, hosted in Azure Cloud.

This is primarily a technical lift-and-shift migration and upgrade, involving the migration of existing Maximo designs and configurations into MAS 9.x, together with the technical changes and remediation required as part of the upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support Oracle-to-DB2 database migration activities.
• Perform DB2 database administration, configuration and tuning.
• Install and configure DB2 environments across the required infrastructure.
• Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform database performance optimisation for Maximo Application Suite (MAS).
• Support database security, access controls and compliance requirements.
• Refactor and remediate existing PL/SQL stored procedures for compatibility with DB2.
• Identify and resolve database-related issues arising during the Maximo upgrade and migration.
• Support technical remediation and optimisation activities throughout the migration programme.
• Ensure database environments are stable, secure, performant and ready for production use.

Essential Technical Experience

• Proven experience with Oracle-to-DB2 migrations.
