Maximo Project Manager

Location: Derby, UK (Hybrid, 1-2 days onsite per week)
Duration: 12 October 2026 – 21 May 2027 (8 Months)
Security Clearance: SC Clearance required or eligible to obtain
Nationality Requirement: British Nationals only (dual nationality reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maximo Project Manager to lead delivery activities within a large-scale IBM Maximo upgrade and migration programme for a major Aerospace & Defence client.

The programme involves a technical lift-and-shift migration from IBM Maximo 7.6 running on Oracle databases to IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9.x running on DB2 in Microsoft Azure Cloud.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end delivery of upgrade, migration, remediation and deployment activities across multiple technical workstreams, ensuring the programme is delivered on time, within scope and in line with governance and security requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery

• Lead delivery of the Maximo upgrade and migration programme from planning through go-live and hypercare.
• Coordinate technical, infrastructure, database, testing, integration and deployment workstreams.
• Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, dependencies and critical paths.
• Monitor progress against delivery objectives and manage project schedules.

Governance & RAID Management

• Establish and maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies).
• Chair project governance forums, steering committees and delivery reviews.
• Track and report programme status, risks and mitigation activities.
• Escalate critical issues and delivery risks as required.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact between client, IBM delivery teams and third-party suppliers.
• Build strong relationships with technical leads, architects, business stakeholders and executive sponsors.
• Facilitate project workshops, planning sessions and programme reviews.
• Ensure alignment across all delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Migration & Upgrade Oversight

• Oversee Maximo 7.6 to MAS 9.x migration activities.
• Coordinate Oracle to DB2 database migration workstreams.
• Manage remediation activities resulting from platform upgrades.
• Ensure successful execution of cutover, deployment and transition plans.

Vendor & Resource Management

• Manage vendor engagement and delivery commitments.
• Coordinate project resources across multiple technical disciplines.
• Support forecasting, capacity planning and utilisation management.
• Ensure appropriate governance and quality standards are maintained throughout delivery.

Testing & Go-Live Support

• Oversee SIT, UAT and deployment readiness activities.
• Monitor defect resolution and remediation progress.
• Support go-live planning and hypercare management.
• Ensure successful handover into operational support teams.

Required Skills & Experience

Maximo Experience

• Proven experience delivering IBM Maximo implementation, upgrade or migration programmes.
• Strong understanding of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) environments.
• Experience managing technical upgrade and remediation projects.

Project Management

• Extensive experience managing large-scale technology transformation programmes.
• Strong governance, planning and reporting capabilities.
• Demonstrable experience with RAID management.
• Experience coordinating multiple technical delivery teams simultaneously.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience presenting to senior leadership and programme boards.
• Ability to manage complex vendor and client relationships.

Delivery & Risk Management

• Strong background in managing programme risks, dependencies and critical issues.
• Experience delivering projects within regulated or high-security environments.
• Proven ability to drive successful outcomes within fixed timelines.

Experience delivering Maximo upgrades, MAS migrations, cloud transformations and large-scale enterprise programmes would be highly advantageous.
