Job summary

Central YMCA is seeking a Maths Tutor for our Leeds site to design, plan and deliver engaging maths programmes up to Level 2 maths Functional Skills and GCSE. The role focuses on helping learners overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their qualifications.

We offer a supportive team, generous leave, pension, life insurance and wellbeing benefits. This part-time post is 20 hours per week with a pro-rata salary of £30,000, located in Leeds.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be creative and brave, finding ways to engage learners and improve maths confidence.
• Nurture and empower learners by supporting them to overcome barriers.
• Be highly organised, with demonstrated planning and time-management skills (supported by good IT skills).
• PGCE/Certificate in Education, or L5 Diploma in Education and Training.
• Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in maths, and a minimum of Level 2 in English.
• Experience of teaching maths up to Level 2 and/or GCSE.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and deliver engaging maths programmes up to Level 2 maths Functional Skills and GCSE.
• Support learners in overcoming barriers to maths and build confidence.
• Assist in organising internal assessments and external examinations.
• Contribute to course review processes, curriculum development and quality assurance.
