Job summary

Central YMCA is hiring a Maths Tutor to join its Leeds sites on a permanent/part-time basis. You’ll design and deliver maths programmes up to Level 2 and GCSE, supporting learners to overcome barriers and build confidence.

Strong planning, communication and IT skills are essential, with PGCE/Certificate or L5 Diploma and Level 3 maths plus Level 2 English required. The role offers a pro-rata salary of £30,000 for part-time, with generous leave and pension benefits.

About You

The successful Maths Tutor will have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and great rapport-building ability.
  • Be creative and brave, finding ways to engage learners and improve their maths confidence.
  • Nurture and empower learners by supporting them to overcome barriers.
  • Be highly organised, with demonstrated planning and time-management skills (supported by good IT skills).
  • PGCE/Certificate in Education, or L5 Diploma in Education and Training.
  • Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in maths, and a minimum of Level 2 in English.
  • Experience of teaching maths up to Level 2 and/or GCSE.
  • Effective skills in managing conflict and maintaining high standards of classroom behaviour.
About the Role

We deliver educational programmes across England and as we expand our provision, we are recruiting for a Maths Tutor for our Leeds sites.

As a Math Tutor you will work with a nationwide team of subject specialists to effectively design, plan and deliver engaging programmes of learning that support learners to achieve up to and including Level 2 maths Functional Skills and GCSE.

You will support learners in overcoming barriers to maths, building their confidence, and supporting them in achieving maths qualifications to facilitate progression and improve life chances, whilst also developing employability and social skills.

The successful Maths Tutor will be able to:

  • Effectively meet the needs of individual learners and support their success on their programme of learning.
  • Assist in the organisation of internal assessments and external examinations.
  • Contribute to course review processes, curriculum development and quality assurance in keeping with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
