AMA Admin is seeking a SEND Maths Teacher to join a specialist SEMH secondary provision just outside Guildford. You will deliver high-quality maths across KS3- KS4, differentiating for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs to make meaningful progress.
You will work with SENCOs, pastoral staff and behaviour teams to support GCSE Maths or alternative pathways, fostering confidence, independence and resilience in learners.

You will deliver high-quality Maths teaching across KS3 and KS4, supporting pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs. The successful candidate will be someone who understands that every learner is different and can adapt their teaching, communication and approach to help pupils make meaningful progress.

Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4 for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
Adapt and differentiate Maths lessons to meet individual EHCP targets, learning needs and abilities.
Use a range of SEND-friendly teaching strategies to support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, sensory and communication needs.
Break down complex mathematical concepts into manageable and accessible steps.
Create a calm, structured and predictable classroom environment.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage engagement with learning.
Support pupils preparing for GCSE Maths or alternative accreditation pathways.
Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral staff, teaching assistants and behaviour teams to provide consistent support.
Contribute to individual support plans and monitor pupil progress.
Use positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies to support pupils who may struggle with engagement or self-regulation.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience in Maths.
QTS with a specialism in Mathematics.
Experience teaching Maths to secondary-aged pupils.
Experience working with SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision or specialist settings.
A strong understanding of how SEND can impact learning, communication and behaviour.
Experience adapting and differentiating lessons for pupils with additional needs.
Strong behaviour management and a relational, trauma-informed approach.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education.
Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning.
A patient, flexible and nurturing approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
